The Women Achievers Africa Innovation Challenge is a competition designed to empower young African women to develop innovative solutions to address the pressing challenges in our communities.
The challenge provides an opportunity for a new generation of female leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to showcase their skills, talents, and innovative ideas to sustainable development. Also because of the devastating effect of Climate Change in Africa, this challenge is open to Climate Change Advocates/Warriors with novel ideas/solutions.

Objectives

- Foster the development of innovative solutions to climate change challenges that can be implemented at a local and regional level.
- Encourage women participation in STEM fields and provide them with opportunities to showcase their skills and talents.
- Support the implementation of winning projects and their contribution to addressing climate change challenges in African communities.
Who Should Apply

- Young African women between ages 18-35 looking for mentorship, training, networking and grants to support their ideas.
- Applicant must be resident in Africa
- Application is open to Researchers, Entrepreneurs, Professionals and Students.

- Originality: Your idea/solution should be innovative and address a significant challenge.
- Impact: Your idea/solution should have a clear potential to make a positive impact on communities and the environment.
- Scalability: Your idea/solution should be scalable and capable of being implemented on a larger scale.
- Viability: Your idea/solution should be sustainable and have a long-term impact.
- Relevance: Your idea/solution should contribute to the advancement of women in STEM or the development of climate-resilient communities.
Selection Process
- Interested applicants working in the area of STEM and Climate Change are to submit their application online.
- After submission, your idea/solution will be evaluated based on potential impact, creativity and feasibility.
- The top 50 ideas/solutions will be selected and published on the website.
- Only 20 finalists will be invited to WAA Conference and Awards where they will have an opportunity for training, mentorship, networking with industry leaders during the conference.
- 6 out of the 20 finalists will receive grants (3 from each category: STEM or Climate Change) 1st Prize is $10,000, 2nd prize is $5,000 and 3rd prize is $2,000.
- The top 6 winners will be announced at the WAA Conference Dinner and Award Ceremony.
